The Rolling Picture Award Winners

With the Oscars now out of the way and Adam Sandler wondering how many Razzies he will actually win on 1st April, its time to fill the void in between by announcing The Rolling Picture Award Winners. I'm sure there is much excitement throughout the film world about who will win these awards.

Best Picture Winner: Margin Call

This way by far the toughest decision I had to make out of all the awards, I was a big fan of all 6 films that were nominated and Drive was an incredibly close second but I had to give it to Margin Call. One of the only films that I had very high hopes for on going into the cinema and then exceeded those expectations massively.

Best Actor Winner: Jean Dujardin (The Artist)

Another tough category with such talented performances in but Dujardin wins due to the flair and loveableness of his character in The Artist. He truly has won the hearts of many in Hollywood.

Best Actress Winner: Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)

Not mentioned much in the awards but Mara's performance as one of the world's favourite anti-heroes Lisbeth Salander was under-rated. She played a character that millions had read about and loved in Steig Larsson's trilogy but managed to capture her difficult personality.

Best Supporting Actor Winner: Christoph Waltz (Carnage)

Waltz as Alan Cowan the attorney with a huge ego is simply brilliant to watch. Darkly funny and able to whip everyone else into a frenzy with his clever observations and remarks is without doubt worthy of an award.

Best Supporting Actress Winner: Jessica Chastain (The Help)

A real surprise gem of a performance by Chastain amongst the praise given to Viola Davis & Octavia Spencer. You can't help but like her as the film progresses because despite her ditzy exterior, she is more intelligent than most.

Best Director Winner: J.C. Chandor (Margin Call)

Cleverly shot film on a tight budget within 18 days around New York and J.C. Chandor also wrote the screenplay himself. It's an incredibly accurate depiction of life at the cutting edge in the trading business and should be shown to anyone with aspirations of working in this industry.

The Chris Rock Award (Best Small Role) Winner: Jeremy Irons (Margin Call)

The ruthless and cunning performance of the company MD in Margin Call by Jeremy Irons was superb. A man only out for himself and his own survival, Irons was completely believable in this character and is everything the public hates in the bosses of big banks and trading companies.

Best Music/Soundtrack Winner: Drive

There was only going to be one winner here, the 80's feel soundtrack to Drive is brilliant on its own to listen to but pitched against the film itself it is simply incredible. The key track is 'Real Hero' by College but every mood in the film is captured by the music.

Worst Film Winner: Jack & Jill

I have nothing to say about this film except why? Al Pacino, why?
